Achievements to date:

The Lancashire and Cumbria RESPECT Group began life at HMP Wymott, and rolled out to HMP Garth, then across the entire area.

In it’s infancy at HMP Wymott, the group received a great deal of encouragement and support from the then Deputy Governor, Bob McColm. The Group was offered the use of HMYOI Lancaster Farms as a permanent base by the Governor. The Group is now 20 months down the road and has representatives from all bar one establishment.

What next? There are two short-term priorities for the Group.

  1. To increase the membership of RESPECT in the area.
  2. Address the situation of low numbers of minority ethnic staff employed in the Lancashire and Cumbria area
