Membership of RESPECT is free, and is open to everyone who wishes to eliminate racism within HM Prison Service. There are three types of RESPECT membership available. Full, Associate and ‘Friend of RESPECT’.

Only HM Prison Service Minority Ethnic staff are eligible for Full Membership. All other HM Prison Service staff should apply for an Associate Membership. Please use our website on the HM Prison Service Intranet to apply.

If you would like to show your support for RESPECT but are not employed within HM Prison Service, email us and request a form to become a 'friend of respect'.

Any person applying for membership of RESPECT should read our Constitution carefully before completing the membership application form below. Particular attention should should be applied to Clause 3 & Clause 5 of the Constitution and the Code of Conduct.

Upon completing the application form, your details will be stored on a secure database at the RESPECT Central Office. Providing there are no complications, you will shortly be issued with a RESPECT membership card, and a pin badge to wear with pride. As a member of RESPECT you are eligible to attend our Annual National Conference and will receive our bi-monthly newsletter ‘the Word’.

The RESPECT membership continues to grow daily. It’s this constant growth that gives RESPECT increased strength to eliminate racism in the workplace.
