RESPECT ‘the Word’ newsletter is distributed to every member of RESPECT. The newsletter sets out to be a ‘true voice’ for the RESPECT membership and those who strive to improve Race Relations within the Service. There is no form of influence placed by the Prison Service Management on this newsletter and as such the membership of RESPECT should see it as THEIR newsletter.

As well as being a good source of information for local, Area and national developments, the newsletter deals with specific issues:

• To improve the awareness of the work of the National Executive Committee and of RESPECT Area and local Committees.

• To exchange best practices, ideas and suggestions.

• To establish a better and lasting relationship with the Senior Management Team of HM Prison Service.
